The approach to Mera Peak is a chance to venture into a little-visited and unspoiled region of Nepal where the hillsides are still densely forested. At the lofty height of 6476 m, Mera peak is Nepal’s highest trekking peak and boasts an absolutely stunning summit panorama that includes five of the world’s 8000 m peaks: Kangchenjunga (8586 m), Makalu (8475 m), Lhotse (8501 m), Everest (8848 m) and Cho Oyo (8153 m). Although physically very demanding, the climb itself is quite straightforward, on snow slopes which rarely exceed 30 degrees. After the ascent, we proceed north, through the upper Hunku Valley, a mountain wilderness with massive moraines, glacial lakes and spectacular peaks that include Chamlang and Baruntse. The Khumbu side of Mingbo La (5817 m) is quite steep as we descend among ice flutes for more than 100 meters – the Mingbo Glacier seracs. After the Ama Dablam base camp, we reach Pangboche and follow the famous "Everest base camp" itinerary.

The 19 days program offers a chance to climb Mera Peak to those who cannot afford a 23 days duration trek. After the climb, the way back to Lukla goes over Zatrwa La (4590 m).
